I genuinely don't know where to begin describing the amount of love these two have for each other. Normally when you see people overloading Facebook with their photos doing things together, their cutesy little comments to each other, the nauseating amount of kissing photos and all that mush, it's a safe bet that their relationship in reality is nothing like that. But these two are honestly that annoyingly in love. Their intimate beach wedding shows it!
They initially met in the hospital. They're both nurses, so you'd think they may have met through work but sadly that was not the case. Alex's mom had fallen ill and Kasey was the handsome nurse caring for her while she was there. The timing wasn't quite right for them to get romantically involved though. But flash forward a couple years, after Alex's mother had passed, they found each other online, began talking and the rest is history. Now Alex has her mother's handsome, kind and gentle nurse as her husband. Always there by her side reminding her of the great care he took for her mother. He is a wonderful man, and I'm so happy she has him.
So, this wedding day had quite a few scares. Florida is notorious for their sudden 5 minute thunderstorms, and come the day of the wedding, there was rain on the forecast all day! So, I was prepared with my umbrella hat and plastic bags to protect my gear in case I needed them but an beach weddings aren't really possible with bad weather. Then, I wake up to a text from my second shooter saying that she'd been up all night sick and wouldn't be able to make the wedding! Now, I'm not one to panic but I definitely had a few knots in my stomach. Most of the professionals in my area would not be available given that short of notice, but I didn't want to involve Alex until absolutely necessary so I needed to act fast. Then, the reception for the wedding was being held at a nearby beach rental property and the owner of the property tried to shut it down because of regulations on the island! Apparently they don't usually allow that sort of event to be held in a private residence on Anna Maria.
As you can imagine though, everything ended up coming together. A great photographer friend if mine (Jessica) ended up saving the day to be my second shooter, the property managers and the local residents ended up allowing the party, and not one rain drop fell all day. We danced, laughed, cried, and had an amazing time celebrating the beautiful union that is Mr. and Mrs. Spivey.
